Date: 2020.03.13

Dear EIC Family,

Greetings from Global Network Team (GNT) in Shin Osaka.

We are in March now!! Many exams, events and ceremonies were scheduled,

but because of the COVID19, so many things have been cancelled.

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Please continue to take extra care and try to stay away from places where there are many people.

Make sure to clean your hands and try not to touch things here and there when you are out.

Our EIC Family Blog Chain volume number 16 is here. As always we hope our blog will give everyone hope, energy, motivation or inspiration in their daily life. We look forward to your comments or words of encouragement to the writer especially the group camp leaders and sleeping room in charge camp leaders.

Name: Moeka Mitani         EIC Year participated: 2009         Hometown: Fukui
Now: A university student in Nagoya

Hello everyone! 1

I’m Moeka Mitani. I joined EIC 2009 when I was 10 years old.

I also joined EIC 2018 as a VCS.

I joined APN almost every year, EIC’s 15th anniversary event in 2015 in Chiba. Also, I could achieve one of my dream! I joined EIC 2018 as a VCS (Volunteer Camp Staff). It was an honor for me to be involved with EIC again.2

What are you doing now?

Now, I’m in Toronto, Canada!

I’m here on working holiday.

Toronto is a very multicultural city. Actually, this is my first time going abroad so everything was new and exciting for the first few months!

In Toronto, we are 14 hours behind Japan! Please guess what time it is now in Toronto :-)

Now, it’s too cold in Toronto. Sometimes, it can be minus -14 degrees! Can you imagine the coldness? It doesn’t snow too much here, but when it snows it is very fluffy! We can see snow crystals with the naked eye :)

Why did you choose the things you are doing now?
There are two official languages in Canada. In Toronto, the official language is English but it is French in some areas (example. Montreal). I was studying French at the university in Japan and I want to improve my French more. I can see many signs or products written in both English and French, so I can learn both languages in life. That’s why I came to Toronto. I want to make some friends who can speak French!

How EIC influenced your life?

EIC gave me the chance to know about the world.

Also, I can communicate in English without fearing failure!

Next challenge?

My next challenge is to visit France by myself!

Message to EIC family:

You only live once so please TRY many things you are interested in and ENJOY it!

Don’t forget confidence and smile ;)
